Hailing from Agoura Hills, California, Matthew Kuperberg began playing the piano at age five and instantly fell in love with music. Since then, he has received national recognition for his virtuosic playing and writing style.

He was chosen as a finalist for the GRAMMY Jazz Band and the Jazz Band of America and selected as the pianist for the Brubeck Institute Jazz Colony and the California All-State Jazz Band. Matthew was personally recognized by Wynton Marsalis on stage at Lincoln Center in New York City, as part of the Essentially Ellington Competition.
Matthew has performed at the Newport Jazz Festival with the Berklee Global Jazz Institute Workshop, the Savannah Music Festival with the Agoura High School Studio Jazz Band, and the Central Avenue Jazz Festival with the Los Angeles City Jazz Band. In May of 2022, Matthew graduated from the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School in New York City, where he worked with pianist Kenny Barron, and had his composition “See You On The Other Side” performed by the Village Vanguard Orchestra.
After attending college, Matthew was hired by Holland America Cruise Line to perform as a Guest Entertainer for two weeks in the Caribbean, where he performed four sets of various musical styles nightly for over 2,000 guests.
Matthew recently released his debut EP “Solo Piano Vol. I” on all streaming platforms, showcasing his original compositions that blur the line between jazz and classical music, in the style of one of his favorite pianists, George Winston.
Aside from music, Matthew is strongly passionate about community service and electoral politics: he has worked for two Democratic Members of Congress, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), and the New York State Democratic Party. Matthew was also chosen for Swing Left's Fellowship and as a field intern on Elizabeth Warren's 2020 presidential campaign.
